Our fleet of fantastic vehicles and equipment helps us provide excellent service to our clients daily. Today, we're highlighting the wonderfully versatile Fastrac.
We have three Fastracs in our fleet, all fitted with super useful attachments to make their work go even smoother. One of our Fastracs has a Mcconnel Versi side arm mower on the rear and a Kuhn Springlonger mower fitted on the front. Another of our Fastracs has a Mcconnel Versi side arm mower, and the third Fastrac is equipped with a Mcconnel VFR side arm mower.
We currently have one working in the East region, one in the Southeast and one in the Midlands. The model of Fastrac we have is the 4220 model, which has an independent air braking system and a suspension system that keeps the cab separate from the chassis and both front and rear axles.
With additional front 3-point linkage and front PTO (power take off), they all have intelligent 4-wheel steer (4WS) and boast an impressive 43mph top speed. Although these machines are designed for field work, it's on the road where the Fastrac comes alive – the independent suspension, braking and steering systems; this allows the Fastrac to be one of the very few tractors legally allowed to drive at higher speeds than all others.
There are plenty of environmental benefits of using the Fastracs too; with their top speed of 43mph, the time driving to and from sites is reduced, which minimises the use of HGV transport. Enabling us to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing or removing the need for transportation and reducing the number of operatives and vehicles we put on the network. It can also run on biodegradable hydraulic oil.
When fitted with the Mcconnel Versi, the combination can complete works nearside and offside of the carriageway, reducing the work traditionally done by manual labour and two-stroke engines (which are bad for the environment) or needing an additional machine to work the offside.
