Bridge clearance on minor B road supports crucial infrastructure inspection
Published on 08 Dec 2022

We don’t only work on high-speed roads; we also work on minor connecting roads too. Last month our team in the South, were working on a project between Basingstoke and New Alresford just off the B3046.

The bridge on the road was getting somewhat overgrown, so our brief was to clear the bridge for a crucial inspection. The bridges need to be checked regularly to ensure they’re holding up against the weight of the traffic and infrastructure using them.

For this job, there were four operatives on site, using chainsaws, hedge cutters and brush-cutters, along with a 3.5 tonne tipping van and a chipper. The road itself was incredibly narrow so we needed a whole road closure in order to complete the job. Working quickly, traffic management was on and off within four hours so we could minimise the disruption to local road users.
