Our updated site audit process supports our open and honest culture
Published on 04 Apr 2024

Over the past few months, we've made some changes to our site auditing process.

We take safety and compliance seriously and these changes are a result of our proactive approach to safety, improvement and efficiency.

We've focused on making our audits fit for purpose, and as such have made them simple, free of unnecessary duplication and concise to complete – taking no more than 30 minutes. As part of the changes, we've decided that we will no longer be scoring our inspections.

We found that scoring meant that people would always play the system to some extent. We also noticed that scoring implies failure as well as success. And we found that it tended to be that praise was given for not identifying issues rather than for openness and honesty. Which in turn keeps issues hidden.

We see issues raised as opportunities for improvement, and our upgraded audit process fits nicely alongside our cultural pillar of trust, honesty and integrity. As always with our procedures, we welcome feedback from across the business, both from those being inspected and those doing the audits.

We will continue to refine the process as we implement it across the business to streamline the process even more.
